Nagrecha brothers: Vinubhai and Harshukhbhai who own cash and
Carry business in East London have formed their family 's Nagrecha
Charitable Trust through which they contribute considerably to
the Hindu society and they were running this their trust for a
number of years, organising cultural programmes including Navratri
festivals and Hindu functions.
During the inauguration ceremony of their newly built Hariben
Bachubhai Nagrech Hall in East London on Sunday 23, September,
Vinubhai said their father emigrated by sea route to Africa in
1937 from Gujarat, India and worked hard there, and then Idi Amin's
time his parents had to leave Africa. His parents came to Britain
in 1972, and then his father started a small shop by borrowing
money from friends, and after short time, their father died and
their mother brought up them with her great strength, he added
saying she was the one who helped and guided them greatly to build
their successful busienss in London.
Vinubhai and Harshukhbhai and their family members remeber their
parents always and they now realise that through their family
charitable Trust they can contribute to the society considerably
and the younger generation can remember their family for years
to come.
Now they have devoted a considerable time and money to open up
Hariben Bachubhai Nagrecha Hall of their own for their family
charitable trust.
The Trust's two storey newly built building is now open to all
Hindus who wish to organise their cultural programmes in London.
During the inaugural ceremony on Sunday 23, September, more than
thousand people were invited including community leaders, politicians
and many dignitories among Mr Vallabh Kaviraj and his wife Maniben
Kaviraj were invited.
The inaugural ceremony was greatly enjoyed by all those who have
attended the event, and delicious dinner was then served after
the event.

In Britain, on the two world wars Rememberance Day, the National
Council of British Indians first time organised two world wars
remeberance day meeting on Wednesday 11th November, in a Committee
Room of the House of Commons, to pay tribute to thousands of Indian
soldiers killed and injured in two world wars.
The Council Committee Chairman, Daljit Sehbai, in his opening
remarks said that Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims and Christians fought
together to make the Indian Army a formidable force. With more
than 2.5 million volunteers, it was the second largest force fighting
Hitler and Axis powers. Thousands of men lost their lives and
many were severely injured, and he said these brave Indians should
not remain as the forgotten heroes.
Baroness Shreela Flather who worked hard in efforts to get the
Memorial Gates built near Buckingham Place, spoke about the difficulties
she faced and eventually succeeded.
Mihir Bose, distinguished journalist and broadcaster spoke of
political implications and the aftermath of world war second.
Dr. Ashok Kumar, MP, Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group
on India, praised the efforts of the National Council of British
Indians in making everyone aware of the sacrifices of Indian soldiers
in the two world wars and hoped that it will become an annual
event.
Minister of State in the Department of International Department,
Gareth Thomas, representing Prime Minister Gordon Brown, praised
the role played by the Indian Army now as part of the UN peacekeeping
force in many troubled spots in the world. These and other factors,
he said, made a justifiable case for India becoming a permanent
member of the Security Council.
Dominic Grieve, MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Justice, representing
Leader of the Opposition, David Cameron, spoke of the deep gratitude
Britain owes to the Indian Army for its help in defeating Hitler
and his forces during the second world war.
His Excellency, Ashok Mukherji, Deputy High Commissioner of India,
praised the National Council of British Indians and the help given
to them by the All Party Parliamentary Group on India to organise
this event in the House of Commons. He also read out names of
many Indians who won Victoria Cross, Britain's highest military
honours.
Brig. Anil Mehta, Military Advisor to the Indian High Commissioner,
along with a number of Indian ex-servicemen were there to pay
their tribute.
Other speakers included Shailesh Vora, MP, Shadow Deputy Leader
of the House; Viscount Slim who was with the Indian Army during
the second world war.Lord Karan Bilimoria, President of UK-India
Business Council and some other MPs spoke there.
The Committee Room was packed on that day and a number of invitees
had to stand outside the room.
The AEN was invited and covered the event.
After the end of the event, all were invited toJubilee Room of
the House where they all enjoyed a delicious Indian food.

Diwali is celebrated
in House of Commons
of Parliament
In Britain, Diwali, the festival of lights the main Hindu festival
and second largest religious festival in the UK, was celebrated
on Wednesday 14, November, in the House of Commons of Parliament
where Prime Minister Gordon Brown was the star of the atrraction
and a spokesman of Hindu Forum of Britain described him as Govardhan
Brown and a honouring member of our family.
Prime Minister Brown lauded the efforts of Hindu Forum of Britain helping Hindu community interagting in British society, and he said he would
be going to India in January and would like to take with the message
of success of British Hindu community to India and share it with
India's Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who is a good friend.
He also praised Keith Vaz MP for taking a lead in organising Diwali festival in House of Commons
of Parliament.
There were several parliamentarians including several Cabinet
secretaries attended the great Hindu event in House of Commons.
Participants including Hindu community leaders and journalists
were welcomed with the traditional tilack being applied to forehead
and offered sweets. The Members Dining Hall was transfered into
mini-india.
The event was sponsored by Barclays commercial.

Diwali which is the Hindu festival of lights was celebrated in
Wembley on Saturday 3, November.
After Diwali lights switched on, a float Diwali procession from
Alperton underground station started and about 20,000 people participated
in the procession.
Hindu community leaders , local MPs and councillors as well as
others and also The AEN-The Asian Express Newspaper's founding
editor, a lonstanding Indian journalist, owner Vallabh Kaviraj
and his wife Maniben Kaviraj joined in the procession.
The procession then ended to a park where a marchquees and a special
stage were assembled to perform Indian entertaining programme
and then fireworks started with joy.
Thousands of people from children to adults gathered in the park
to celebrate Diwali.
The Diwali festival was organised by Hindu Council of Brent, which
is associated with Hindu Council UK.

In Britain, Diwali celebration started two weeks earlier, organised
by Mayor of London, at Trafalgar Square in London on Sunday 28,
October this year, and inspite of rain about 30,000 people attended
the event.
Diwali is an annual Hindu event and it is a very joyful occasion known
as the festival of lights enjoyed by muticultural people in this country.
Although it is Hindus' an annual joyful event it signifies the
value of cooperation and mutual respect between people of different
faiths and backgrounds.
On this joyous occasion of Diwali, Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone
wished everyone a Happy Diwali.
This year's Diwali on the Trafalgar Square comes at the end of the India Now season, the unique festival that has highlighted the richness of Indian
culture.
Later this year, Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone will be visiting
Delhi and Mumbai to open London offices in both cities, with the aim of increasing
the already strong ties between India and London and developing
further mutually beneficial links.
Diwali on the Trafalgar Square, is one of many cultural events supported
by the Mayor of London that take place throughout the year.
The AEN-The Asian Express Newspaper has covered several events and continues to do so, serving the

In Britain, during the Diwali celebration festival after spectacular
firework display at Bhaktivedanta Manor-Hare Krishna Temple in
Watford near London on Sunday 18, October 2009, festival revelars
including community leaders and prominent invited guests release
1000 lanterns into the night sky in a bid for world peace.
According to the temple's news release, 15,000 people attended
the Diwali celebration festival at Bhaktivedant Manor in Watford
on Sunday.
The central theme of Diwali is the victory of good over evil and
light over darkness according the Indian epic Ramayan. On this
Diwali Day, devotees remember how light will always triumph over
darkness.
On Sunday, 15,000 people who attended the festival enjoyed the
Diwali celebration at Bhaktivedant Manor in Watford, where other
highlights of the festival included colourful dances, plays and
free vegetarian delicious meals for everyone who attended the
event.

In Britain Diwali celebrated in Parliament on 14th October, where
hundreds of people gathered to hear prominent MPs who praised
contributions made by Hindu community in this country.
Several MPs from main parties attended the event, even House of
Commons' speaker John Bercow MP with his wife Sally attended the
event for the first time.
The event was organised by Hindu Forum of Britain and hosted by
Rt.Hon. Keith Vaz MP, and it was sponsored by IncredibleIndia

This year, Londoners were invited to celebrate the triumph of
good over evil, hope over despair and light over darkness at Diwali,
the festival of Lights, at Trafalgar Square in London from 2 -
7 pm on Sunday 4 October 2009.
The event including a Bollywood style show was organised by Mayor
Boris Johnson and the Diwali in London Committee.
Greetings from Boris Johnson, Mayor of London said Diwali is a
beautiful festival that can be enjoyed by every community and
I am delighted that Trafalgar Square is playing host to Diwali
on the Square on Sunday 4, October. Diwali is an occasion of great
significance to Hindus, Sikhs and Jains, but with its underlying
themes of peace, renewal and co-operation, it has relevance and
meaning for all Londoners.
Thousands of people gathered that day at the Square and it was
a very joyful day. The AEN-The Asian Express Newspaper was there
to observe the event.
